Henri Matisse was one of the great artists of the early twentieth century and I love that his work is still inspiring people today. It's amazing to me that art created roughly 100 years ago can still feel so modern and innovative. My favorite motif from Matisse's work is his depictions of plants and this is a trend that I'm seeing pop up in interior design and decor items/accessories recently.
Matisse used simple shapes in groundbreaking ways to depict natural elements through paper cut outs. I am very drawn to shapes that feel simultaneously iconic, organic, and still modern the Matisse's cut outs are exactly that.
I noticed recently that Matisse-inspired shapes are popping up all over and in design! Below are some examples that I've seen recently.
I rounded up my favorite Matisse-inspired items so that you can get the look in your home. Let me know what you think of the round-up in the comments below and I hope that you're loving this trend as much as I am!
