Welcome back to Green Sauce, a series where I explore the ins and outs of plants, plant care, and design. This week I want to share one of my favorite topics: plants in decor.
It's no secret that I LOVE plants! Up until a few years ago, I honestly assumed (as I do with many things) that I would be bad at plant care and never tried it. However, when I moved into #BKaptstory that all changed because my neighborhood of Boerum Hill is something of a garden district. There are 5 nurseries within a 10 block radius of my home and I started to acquire a lot of plant babies after settling in.
Since I tend to favor a neutral palette in my designs, I really love the bright pops of green and other earth tones that plants naturally bring to a neutral space. Courtney Nye is currently one of my favorite designers (follow her work if you don't already!) and I am so inspired by her use of plants to brighten and add contrast to neutral spaces.
Here is a round of up other inspiration photos that I've been saving down over the past few weeks. I am totally obsessed plant-filled interiors and plant-covered exteriors! It is endlessly exciting for me to see ways that designers incorporate greenery into their spaces.
From my travels
I have been fortunate to find lots of plant-filled spaces during my recent travels. Jeff and I went to Atlanta almost exactly a year ago where we were pleasantly surprised by an amazing botanical garden and plant-filled loft complex where we stayed in an Airbnb. Also, on our recent trip to LA (read more here and here) and Joshua Tree (see the Airbnb here and a full post on the trip is coming soon!) gorgeous plant-filled interiors were everywhere!
In my home
Over the past few years I have acquired a lot of plants. So many that I may or may not have lost count. But, I think they add so much color and life to my house and I'm excited to explore new ways to use them in decor.
Thanks for reading! I'd love to hear your thoughts on decorating with plants, so please let me know in the comments below.
