Trend spotting in design land is fast becoming a favorite pastime for me. Saving down inspiration across multiple platforms and staying on top of current products is allowing me to see interesting trends both big and small across the design landscape. Today I want to talk about a new trend that I'm seeing everywhere, fine lines.
Delicate lines and dashes are being used as patterns on objects, to add a simple and unique shapes to lighting and furniture, in tile, and in art. For example, Block Shop Textiles have been using a lot of line patterns in their recent designs as you can see below.
I've also been noticing how I use line patterns and lines in my home and a recent addition is this swing arm sconce from CB2.
Block Shop pieces also make an appearance in my home. I love these Temple pillows (out of stock unfortunately).
This utensil holder from CB2 brings fine lines into my little kitchen. I highly recommend this piece, which could also be used as a vase or even a planter.
I was inspired to do this post because I started seeing line shapes and patterns pop up in my Instagram mood boards and Pinterest. I predict that fine lines are going to be everywhere in 2018 and we are gong to see a lot more of this minimalist pattern! My inspiration photos are below and I resolve to find more ways to use these shapes and patterns in my home.
Fine lines are the perfect accent to so many different spaces. From lighting, to plant stands, to tile, to art, they add delicate and high-impact contrast that can transform a room. If you're worried about bringing dark colors into your space, this can be a subtle way to introduce elegant contrast, organic shapes, and novel designs in small doses.
As always, I scour the internet for finds so that you don't have to! Here are options for pieces, which incorporate fine lines that you can bring into your home. I personally own and love (5) and (8) in this roundup and the rest of pieces are on my wish list. Let me know what you think of fine lines as a design element in the comments!
